Members are individuals or organizations who sponsor dance in Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga or Schenectady counties and who value the mission of Partners in Dance. Members engage dance companies in their programs and serve constituencies that want to learn more about dance. Members are drawn to a common interest in developing dance audiences, increasing dance literacy for all ages and enjoying a dance-rich environment in the Capital Region.

Capital Region Center for Arts in Education

The Capital Region Center for Arts in Education (CRCAIE) facilitates partnerships between artists and teachers to make the arts central to teaching and learning. Established in 1983 and modeled on the aesthetic education program at the Lincoln Center Institute, CRCAIE helps teachers and their students to become actively involved with the arts through participation in artistic experiences, and observing, listening to and analyzing works of art in dance, drama, music, visual arts and literature.

 

Dance Alliance

Dance Alliance is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization of dancers and lovers of dance designed to support and promote dance in the Capital District and Saratoga regions. The Alliance publishes a monthly newsletter with dance calendar and offers discount performance tickets to its members. It also sponsors dance courses for seniors and an annual weekend Dance Festival for the public.

eba Artists have been creating, performing and teaching the art of Dance Theatre in the Capital Region and throughout the world since 1972. Metroland named eba and Maude Baum and Company as the BEST REGIONAL DANCE COMPANY for 2005. eba supports five programs to to fulfill its mission: Maude Baum and Company Dance Theatre, eba's professional performing and touring company rivals companies from around the world; everything but anchovies Dance Theatre, a pioneering Arts in Education company that brings creativity into the classroom; eba Center for Dance & Fitness offering over 25 dance, fitness and wellness classes for Adults and Teens; Kids Dancspace @ eba, a creative dance school and camp for kids; and The eba Art Gallery, a visual art gallery. All programs are housed in The eba Theater, the Company-owned, historic theater and community arts center on the corner of Hudson Avenue and Lark Street in Albany, NY.

The Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company (ESDC) is the resident company of The Egg. Founded in 1991, ESDC presents the uniquely American art form of contemporary modern dance interpreted through the work of choreographer Ellen Sinopoli. ESDC shares its works through concerts, showcases, residencies, workshops, classes and educational outreach.

 

Emma Willard School

Emma Willard School has been a preparatory high school for girls since 1814. The historic buildings, built circa 1910, house a modest theater for dance, concert music and theatre in Troy, NY. The dance program hosts community contact improvisation jams and master classes. The Emma Willard Dance Company is a group of talented and dedicated dancers, ages 15­19, interested in exploring and performing several styles of dance. Each year, a world-renowned guest artist works with the dancers. They perform the season's repertoire in the Capital Region, in a different city each April and at the school to end their season each May.

Hudson Valley Community College presents a full slate of performances including dance, music, theater, and lecture/demonstration in the humanities, each fall and spring. The venue most commonly used for dance is the Maureen Stapleton Theatre (350 seats). Other venues located at Hudson Valley Community College include the Bulmer Center Auditorium (240 seats), and the McDonough Sports Complex (up to 4000 seats). Informal performance locations include the Siek Campus Center and open air spaces throughout the college campus.

Nacre is a dance performance organization dedicated to revitalizing historic choreography of celebrated modern dance choreographers while opening the arena to new emerging artists through arts in education and professional performance experiences. In addition to annual repertory concerts, Nacre celebrates each holiday season with the presentation of modern dance pioneer Charles Weidman's 1961 Christmas Oratorio. Nacre shares these famous pieces of repertory with a cast of accomplished dancers throughout the Capital Region. Nacre adds to this accomplished cast with bi-annual auditions. The University at Albany Performing Arts Center includes a five-theatre complex on the uptown campus and Page Hall, an 800 seat theatre located on the downtown campus. Using all six performance spaces, the Performing Arts Center (PAC) hosts over 500 events annually in all of the performing arts including dance, music and theatre. The PAC facility also houses a scene shop, a costume shop, a large lounge space, a mirrored dance studio, two music rehearsal spaces, ten dressing rooms, twenty music practice rooms, five general-purpose classrooms, a drafting classroom, a lighting laboratory and a music library.
